Moon Valley
Is the geologhical spectacle most important of the Cordillera
de la Sal, visited everyday by hundrerds of tourist waiting
for to see the impressive natural formations. Nowaday
the Moon Valley Park is humanity patrimony and it is ruled
by the Atacamenian Community (entrance fee adults $1500
and children $500). No more than 16 kms. from San Pedro
de Atacama, is a short trip, so it is possible to visit

four hours before the sunset, where you can do a classic
circuit: Mirador, Valle de la Muerte (Death Valley), Llano
de la Paciencia, Tres Marias, Minas de Sal, Cavernas and

Atacama
Salt Flat
It is form by more than 300.000 hectareas of saline deposit,
considered the biggest of Chile. On the north side is
the oasis of San Pedro de Atacama and on the south the
lithium minning and Minsal. The 30% of the lithium world
reservation is here. Atacama Salt Flat was a great paleolake,
it keeps important underground water flows, that give
life to a lot of lagoons where birds as the flamingoes
nets temporarylly. The excursion can be at any time of
the day, however for the sunset are more demanding, because
of the amazing change of colour that it take place at
that time. The places more attending by the tourist are:
a.- The Flamingo National Reservation, wild area protected
by the state and ruled by the Corporacion Nacional Forestal
(Conaf). Consist by Laguna Chaxa, Barros Negros, Puilar
and Burro Muerto. At a distance of 62 kms. from San Pedro
de Atacama and 24 kms. from Toconao village. Entrance

b.- Cejar Lagoon, non protected wild area, 12 kms. south
from San Pedro de Atacama. Usually the tourist have a
swimm in a great concentration of salts, where they float
as the Death sea. You can go by bicycle or 4WD.

Altiplanic Lagoons
The chance to go up the altiplano, to visit a group of
impressive colours lagoons and to visit atacamenian villages
with beautiful churches.
The tourism agencies in San Pedro de Atacama have full
day excursions. The departure time can be from 07:00 to
09:00 oclock and the returning will depend of the offered
programme. Some programmes offer to visit Aguas Calientes
Salt Flat and Tuyajto Lagoon. Other programmes only visit
Miscanti Lagoon and Meñiques, but is because they

visit Toconao village, Jere ravine and Socaire village,

Some places are natural parks protected by Conaf and ruled
by the Atacamenian Communities. The entrances fee to the
parks are: Jere ravine $1000 per person, Chaxa Lagoon
$2000 per person and Miscanti Meniques Lagoons $2000 per
person.

Uyuni Salt Flat
Opportunity to go up the bolivian altiplano and stay three
days sleeping at altitudes over 3800mts. Going to places
extremelly inhospite for human life, however the landscape
are really incredible, big several colours lagoons with
thousand of flamingoes, strange rocks formation, big active
volcanoes, a lot of camelloids, beautiful sheperd villages
and one of the biggest salt flat of the world, Uyuni.
The tourism agencies that offer this services are bolivians,
where you contract the only programme that exist. Those
are excursions of 3 days and 2 nights, starting in San
Pedro de Atacama and ending at Uyuni. The departures are
at 08:00 oclock and it is necessary to do the obligated
customs controls in Chile and in Bolivia. At the border
you change vehicules fixed for the trip, generally Toyota
Landcruiser jeep for 7 pax. The circuit have classic stops:
Verde, Blanca, Colorada, Cañapa, Honda and Hedionda
lagoons, Licancabur and Ollague volcanoes, Sol de Mañana
Geyser, Isla del Pescado, the Salt Hotel and the villages
of San Juan, Colchani and Uyuni. Does exist the chance
to go back to San Pedro de Atacama with one day more trip.

San Pedro de Atacama is the archaeological capital of
