On the other side of the cannon, but this time inside, you
can find La Cueva de la Damiana,
one of the important sites because of the quantitie of stlyes
that are over the walls and roofs. Indeed does not exist archaelogic
trace that permit to indicate the beginning of the human occupation
in this place, the rubish that was found at the outside of
the cave tells a attempt data of 4000 years before present
time, that probably here we can find the alfa and omega about
the petroglyphs and pictographs art of Alto Loa.
The Damiana , who gave her name to the place, was a shepherd
that lived in this cave till she died, fifty years ago, to
her belongs the ruins of the two houses that you can find
at the entrance. This shepherd, as equal of some renaissance
monks, lived, ate and slept surrounded by work done by people
that she never knew.
