Alcantholippia deserticola Familiy: Verbenaceae
Perennial plant of 50 cms. It grows with tolilla and bailahuen.
In October appears the violet colour flowers. You can prepare
it, toasting the stem and leafs, and drink it as tea. Is a
very aromatic plant. As home medicine is use as herbal tea
for stomach pain. Also is useful for stop diarreas and illness
caused by the eating of heavy food.

CHACHACOMA
Senecio eriophyton remy. Family: Asteraceae
Highland plant of 20 cms. with yellow flower and grows at
4000 mts. In medicine it is a helpful herb for the high puna
and air illnesses. Is nice for head pain, stomach pain, also
for bronchitis, asma, cough and head cold. It is appreciated
as tonic and stimulating. You can use chachacoma for head
colds as steam.... inhale the smoke.

QUINOA
Highland cereal, quinua or canigua. (chenopodium
quinoa). Is an herbaceous plant and rise till 80 cms. high.
The quinoa fruit is 2 mm. diameter and of several colours.
Is a native plant from the occidental Andes, you have more
quinoa at Bolivia and Peru, also at Colombia and Chile. The
preparation of the quinoa fruits is washing it before cooking
it as rice. The leafs and the stems are forage for the animals. |
LLARETA
Azorella
Compact of low growing. The llareta flowers are small and
yellow colour. When it get dry, the llareta is an excellent
fuel, that is why that in the old times was indiscriminated
cutted for firewood. |
