GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The public transportation routes use by the people of the area, can help a lot at the tourist for travelling to touristic interesting places.

By bus, till nowaday you have three bus companies, with constant departures from their offices in Calama to San Pedro de Atacama. The trip last 90 minutes.
Departures: every one hour.
In Calama from 07:00 to 20:00 hours and in San Pedro de Atacama from 08:00 to 20:30 hours.

By transfer till nowaday the service is only between El Loa airport in Calama to the hotel in San Pedro de Atacama, always available when you arrived to the airport or if you have a previous reservation with the tourism agency of San Pedro de Atacama.
Departures: available for all the flights.

By taxi is very easy to find one at the airport or in San Pedro de Atacama. The regular prices for this 100 kms. trip are $25.000. However after the closing time the price can be $35.000.

By bus, till nowaday you have bus companies with departures two times a week from Calama to Uyuni with custom duty control at Ollague (Chile) and Abaroa (Bolivia). The altiplanic villages have lodging and restaurants. The trip last 14 hours and you have to change bus at the border.
Departures from Calama on Wednesday and Sunday at 24:00 hours and returning from Uyuni the same days but at 04:00 hours.

By train, the service is every Wednesday at 23:00 hours from the train station at Calama. Custom duties control at Ollague and Abaroa.
Departures from Calama every Wednesday at 23:00 hours. The trip last 32 hours.

By bus, till nowaday you have two chilean bus companies with departures two times a week from their offices in Calama, San Pedro de Atacama and Salta. Custom control duty in San Pedro de Atacama and Jama Pass, Argentina. The trip last 12 hours.
Departure from Calama or San Pedro de Atacama on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 10:00 hours from Calama or at 11:30 hours from San Pedro. From Salta on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 07:00 hour.

By transfer exist services previous arrangement between tourism agencies in San Pedro de Atacama and Salta, because is obligated to change vehicle at the border. Is required a minimum number of pax. Other way is to go by transfer till Susquez, touristic place in Argentina (320 kms. from San Pedro de Atacama) where exist bus companies that leave everyday at 13:00 hours to Jujuy and Salta.
Departure: after the arrangement between the chilean and argentinian agencies.

By bus till nowaday you have two local bus companies with dailly departures to Toconao village. One of them go to Peine village three times a week. The trip last 40 minutes to Toconao and 90 minutes to Peine.
Departures: to Toconao at least three times a day and to Peine once a day. The same times for the returning.

By taxi go to the municipal parking place of San Pedro de Atacama and you will find services between 08:30 hours till 22:00 hours. Some taxi drivers have mobile phones to find them. Ask always the prices of the trip, because the cars do not have taximeters

By bus, till nowaday you have only one bus company in San Pedro de Atacama with departures tour times a week. The trip last 90 minutes.
Departures: from San Pedro on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 06:00 hours. The returning is at 21:30 hours.
